Schwan's Cares- A New Way To Fundraise

Schwan’s Cares is a brand new fundraising platform that allows local non-profits (such as youth sports teams, high school bands/teams and community groups) raise money for their respective causes online, quickly and easily, but in a way that allows the donor to buy products that they would normally purchase, while simultaneously giving back.


With Schwan’s Cares, children or groups no longer have to handle cash and sell marked up goods in parking lots or storefronts, but rather, non-profit charitable groups can use Schwan's Cares to create a fundraising web page. Supporters can then shop online from more than 350 of Schwan’s home-style foods, where 20 per cent of every purchase goes toward the fundraising campaign of their choosing. It’s truly the gift that gives back.

The Road Home Apple Tree Progam: It Donates School Supplies To Homeless Children

Intrepid officially launched a campaign to collect new back-to-school clothing, shoes and supplies for more than 100 children living in the Road Home, a Salt Lake family homeless shelter.

The Road Home Apple Tree campaign is available in 35 locations at DownEast, Payless Shoe Source, Old Navy Salt Lake Area Staples, and Intrepid, to provide an opportunity for the public to select an apple with the name of a child and purchase a needed item for back-to-school. The items, which should be new and unused, can be donated at any of the campaign partner locations from Provo to Ogden.

At the completion of the campaign, which runs through Aug. 12, Intrepid will deliver the clothing and school supplies to the Road Home before the school year begins.

This is a good way to give back.  My son and I did it last year and plan to give back to the Road Home Apple Tree program again.  You can see the post of our fun experience here.

The Road Home Apple Tree Program Needs Your Help

The Road Home really needs some help.  The number of kids have doubled this year!  So my son and I decided to do a little shopping.  We headed to Payless and picked out a little girls apple.  She was 8 years old and needed athletic shoes.  We were able to get her a cute pair of shoes and some Hello Kitty sock for only $14 after the coupon.  I love my little guy and how emotional he got when I told him that the little girl needed shoes for school.  He said lets go buy more shoes for more kids.  I am that we are teaching him the importance of giving back.   I really think it helped he saw a picture of the little girl so he could understand a little more.
