There are some differences between the two programs you need to know before you head in:
To earn Staples Rewards you must sign up for a Staples Rewards card. You do not want to apply any coupons to items you are purchasing that will get you Staples Rewards as they can negate your rewards. You will pay the full price out of pocket and then receive your rewards the next month as long as you earn $10. Rewards have to be spent at Staples, but you can turn them back into cash by purchasing Easy Rebate items. You can not purchase Staples Rewards items with rewards and earn more rewards.
Easy Rebates are a bit simpler and no card is required. You just purchase the qualifying item and then submit for your rebate online here. It takes about 2 minutes to submit and you'll receive your money back in about 4 weeks. In most cases you can choose to get your rebate back via paypal, pre-paid Visa card, or check. You can use coupons on Easy Rebate items and you'll still earn your rebate.
