I personally loved learning all about the history of the Empress. The Empress was built in 1917. (yep almost 100 years old) Still has its charm. I loved the atmosphere. I also loved the sense of community. The entire Empress Theatre is operated by volunteers. Plus, there is not a bad seat in the house. It is so affordable. Tickets are only $10. (how affordable) If you have more then 8 people they will give you a discount if you call ahead. Can I say perfect girls night out? The Empress Theatre has also started a new text campaign. If you text Empress to 74499 and they will send you special offers. The first one was for $1 off at concessions which equals to something FREE! (all concessions are $1-2).
The remaining of the season includes Shrek, My Darlin Clementine, State Fair, Once On This Island, Camelot, Ten Little Indians and Mary Poppins.
Love Utah, Give Utah
The Empress Theatre is a 100% volunteer operation, and is run off of donations. All of the actors and actresses are also volunteer.
Love UT Give UT is a once a year fundraiser for various organizations around the state that rely on donations from the public. This year, it will be on Thursday March 20, 2014. The Empress Theatre is participating this year, and is encouraging everybody to just give $10. Your donation will help with things like theater upkeep, new sound equipment, and other items needed to keep The Empress running at tip-top shape! Every time you attend a show, or tell somebody about one of their shows, you are helping keep the arts alive at wonderful places like The Empress for future generations! Live theater has become such an important part of our family’s fun nights out.
