For the last few weeksI have been having my nose in this book called "Bread is the Devil" by Heather Bauer. I have really enjoyed it and have had a lot of realizations about my eating habits.   I  was able to speak to Heather on the phone and have a consultation with her.   Not only is the author/dietician a real down to earth person.  But, she gets that it is not easy.  My favorite chapter is her Blue Print.  It tells you what she recommends you to eat and how to do it.  She gives you a 21 day meal plan or idea so you can change your habits.  Guess what it is ok to have carbs in her world.  Just not a ton of them.  She also goes over how much you should have of each item.  No counting calories just food items.

One other thing I love is how she breaks down what people battle with.  One thing I really noticed after reading/talking to her is I pick at my kids plates and while I make food.  Now I cut up a cucumber or have carrots when I am cooking to snack on instead of licking off the peanut butter after making sandwiches.  I recently started doing a food journal and I had no idea how many extras I was eating until I started writing it down.  I also have been using her form so I get to give my self praise and tell my self what I can do better.  For example, I went to dinner and had no bread from the bread basket.  That is a huge triumph for me.  Because I love bread!!!

Lets get real I really need to loose 30 pounds.  I have really been putting it on the last few years even with all of my exercise (5-6 times per week.)  I just eat a lot more then I thought I did.  Now I am starting to see a change.  In the last week I have lost 2 healthy pounds during a time that I always gain 4-5 lbs.    I really do thank Heather for her time and book.

Now when I have question I look at my "Bread is the Devil" book.  I have healthier snacks.  My favorite new breakfast is greek yogurt with 1/2 cup of kashi go lean and 1 high fiber crackers which keeps me full until lunch.  I also enjoy my 3:30 snack of 1 High fiber crack with babybel cheese.

If you want to get your habits or know what your devil is then head over and check out Heather's Book "Bread is the Devil"  It is also available for kindle or your Nook.
