With rising prices at the gas pump, I've compiled a list of ways that will help you save.   I still remember filling up at $.99 per gallon and my dad telling me that was a lot of money.

Here's the facts:

-Change your spark plugs often. Very affordable and simple.b
-Limit your driving. Carpool or don't drive around looking for a open space, just park.
-Find good gas prices.
-Take care of your car.
-Fill up efficiently. Fill the tank full, do not top it off, wait until you have a quarter tank, but don't push any further.
-Check your tires every few weeks to make sure it's at recommended pressure.

Drive Smarter:

-Avoid idiling
-Plan your trips in advance
-GPS - know where your going and the best route
-Drive at a consistent speed
-Avoid using cruise control when driving on hilly highway roads
-Avoid stops
-Anticipate the stop signs and lights
-Maintain a safe following distance
-Slow down
-Take off slowly from a full stop
-Stay well away from store fronts where you will speed significantly more time idling and waiting for pedestrians and other vehicles
-Use A/C only on the highway
-Shift into neutral if you are not comfortable with downshifting
-Park in the shade

Of course you can always Buy a diesel, hybrid, smaller car or motorcycle.

Plus keep in mind you local grocery stores!  Smith's is having a promotion right now that you get 2x your points until March.  Which means you get more savings at the pump if you take the gas discount  I saved $.50 just today from shopping at Smith's last week. Good idea huh?

I would love to hear your ideas and thoughts.

Happy Saving!
